Well, I am delighted by the interest generated by simply emailing a few special people online. Please invite your friends as well. This site is not limited to blogging, and the founders are very successful in their implementation of community sites. It's just a matter of time before this place is filled like you won't believe.

Although I haven't written much lately it's not because I haven't been thinking about it.

I have been flabbergasted by what's been taking place in this election. I am amazed that the DNC changed rules to support the current presumptive candidate. I am saddened by the treatment of Mrs. Clinton in this race, and I do not believe the democratic party is doing themselves any favors by constantly attempting to kick this woman out of the race. This is an historical event - a woman is running for president, and I think it should be respected as such. Give the woman a her due space! I watched the rules committee process Sunday and was appalled by the special treatment of one candidate. Mr. Obabma was not even on the ticket in Michigan and the rules committee voted to include him by actually giving him delegate votes. Amazing and sad. Mrs. Clinton was in Florida, but they removed some of her count. Tragic. Now is the time for ol' Bill to voice his dismay load and clear. Although I am not a democrat, in no way do I support the presumptive candidate in the republican party. NO WAY. I will vote bi-partisan, and will hope everyone will do the same. This is such a tangled mess and the media certainly are in part at fault in a large way. Last night I witnessed more Obama coverage than Mrs. Clinton who won by sixty something percent in Puerto Rico. Amazing.

There's too much fishiness in the big picture of this election. Is this nothing but a joke? Do the votes counts? Are we just watching the death of political process? How about those blunders being made by the lack of sophistication and knowledge of how things really are in Iraq? And to be fair, all of the candidates have said silly and untruthful things. It's ridiculous. Now, please don't think I'm trying to be political commentator. I am simply a dismayed citizen watching the constitutional process go down the tubes. What a mess.

That's my two cents.

Dismayed, m_99

BTW... we (with my wife) watch French TV (TV5 Monde) almost every evening... we have this channel in our neighborhood. It's a good thing (Martha is in my head) to get some regular dose of foreign movies, news, and culture.

Thank you Emil, you are a real diplomat.

And BTW - I love Immigrants..especially since we all are ... I am French and French, ie, descended from immigrants from both France, and Arcadian Canadian French. It's so funny, my dad was proud of his Francie French and looked down his long nose (so to speak) at Arcadian French Immigrants. My husband is equally German and Italian. He's a "real American" and not as diplomatic as I. He's also more military-minded than me.

Regarding the election, I just think the press and the committees should have given the candidates more space and allow the process to development naturally. Without the pushing of a candidate out before she had a chance. I do not feel as comfortable commenting on politics, as perhaps other things. But, I do believe in speaking about how one feels in these type of arenas. Whereas, many people don't want to hear what someone feels, but what someone knows. However, I feel that the hijacking of votes and delegate counts is wrong. But, this action certainly proves the adage that Everything is Possible! Anyway...

Love love love Public Post...

m_99,

You are a wonderful political commentator - every dismayed citizen is... and should be by default... a political commentator. Politics is our common space. America, particularly - because of the immigrant character of the country - is mostly a political community (and a community of laws).

BTW, I am pro-Obama... while having a huge respect for the Clintons. The hope - and widely held hope is extremely important for anything to happen in a large country like the US - is that Obama is more invested in the idea of deeper changes. Hillary seems more like "I can do better than the Republicans" - and that's not enough for me. Things should be done differently - at so many levels.
